Easter Sunday,  12 April Easter, also known as Pascha (Greek, Latin) or Resurrection Sunday, is festival and holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead, as described in the New Testament as having occurred on the third day after his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary c. 30 AD.  Christians worldwide have celebrated Easter for centuries. The symbol of the cross and images of Jesus Christ, through paintings or statues, are remembered on Easter Day. Many Christians celebrate Easter Sunday as the day of Jesus Christ’s resurrection, which is written in the New Testament of the Christian bible. Most Christians refer to the week before Easter as " Holy Week " According to the Gospel of John in the New Testament, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb where Jesus was buried and found it empty.
